Dungeon Settlers Early Access starts Friday, September 4, 2026 at 08:00 UTC on Steam for Windows and macOS, developer CanOpener confirmed this week alongside a launch-day roadmap outlining the studio’s post-launch plans.

What ships on day one?

The launch EA build includes:

  • The complete core gameplay loop — surface settlement ↔ dungeon expedition cycle, fully playable
  • The first two dungeon regions — both completable from beginning to end
  • The four-person party system — recruitment, equipment, skills, traits, backgrounds
  • Real-time-with-pause combat — including stun, bleed, burn, and vulnerability
  • Auto-collect QoL — added during the Steam Playtest window after alpha players flagged manual pickup as tedious
  • Six languages — English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Russian

Estimated EA window: about two years

CanOpener said they anticipate approximately two years of Early Access, with that estimate open to change based on development progress and community feedback.

CanOpener has said it plans to add, across the EA window:

  • New regions, monsters, weapons, skills, races, events
  • Balance passes and interface improvements
  • Optimization work — important as content density grows
  • Further localization — beyond the six languages shipping at launch
  • Modding support and Steam Workshop integration — on the longer-term roadmap; launch-day roadmap will clarify how those will be prioritized

The dev team

Dungeon Settlers is developed by CanOpener, an independent studio based in Seoul, South Korea, and published by CanOpener and WhisperGames. The team shared on Reddit that the game has been in development for about two and a half years, with public alpha playtests shaping quality-of-life fixes — including the auto-collect behavior added in the playtest build.

Wishlist signal

Dungeon Settlers passed 120,000 Steam wishlists before the EA date was confirmed. The community is active on r/BaseBuildingGames and the Steam Community forums, with the development team responding to feedback in Reddit threads ahead of launch.
