FAQ

What are the Dungeon Settlers Early Access community events?
Two contests on the official Dungeon Settlers Discord running September 5–14, 2026: Show Us Your Settlement (share settlement screenshots) and Best Guide (submit a guide in any language). Each picks a top three by likes plus two developer's picks, for ten winners total.
What do the event winners get?
Each of the ten winners gets to request one character portrait to be added to Dungeon Settlers. No in-game currency or DLC is involved — the reward is having your requested portrait in the game.
How do you enter the Dungeon Settlers events?
Join the official Dungeon Settlers Discord (invite linked in CanOpener's September 5 Steam post) and post your submission in the Show Us Your Settlement or Best Guide event channels before September 14, 2:00 PM UTC.
When do the Dungeon Settlers community events end?
Both events run September 5, 2:00 PM UTC to September 14, 2:00 PM UTC, 2026. Winners are chosen from submissions posted in the Discord event channels within that window.

One day after Dungeon Settlers entered Early Access, CanOpener announced two community events on the official Discord, running September 5, 2:00 PM UTC through September 14, 2:00 PM UTC, 2026. The reward is unusual: each winner gets to request one character portrait to be added to the game.

What are the two events?

Both run in dedicated channels on the official Dungeon Settlers Discord (invite link is in CanOpener’s September 5 Steam post, “Thank You for Playing! & Community Events”):

  • Show Us Your Settlement — share screenshots of the settlement you’ve built
  • Best Guide — submit a guide on anything Dungeon Settlers: strategies, tips, character builds, settlement management, or dungeon exploration. Guides in any language are welcome.

How are winners picked?

Per the official post, each event awards:

  • Top 3 — the submissions with the most likes
  • Developer’s Pick — 2 submissions chosen by CanOpener

That’s five winners per event and ten winners in total. Each winner requests one character portrait to be added to Dungeon Settlers.

What else did the September 5 post say?

Beyond the events, the post thanked players for the launch-day response and confirmed the studio was already preparing its next update — specifically the option to lock character portraits in the Expedition Founding scenario. That arrived in two steps: v0.4.17 added a Portrait Lock when recruiting expedition members, and v0.4.19 extended locking to the full Expedition Founding scenario (portraits, ability stats, and traits). CanOpener also repeated its call for Steam reviews, describing them as one way the team decides what to prioritize in patches.

Is this connected to the roadmap?

The events aren’t part of the published EA Roadmap milestones — they’re a launch-celebration community initiative alongside it. The portrait-request reward does mean player-chosen portraits will presumably appear among future content updates; the roadmap’s Update 4–6 and V1.0 plans remain the schedule of record.

Where to read the official announcement?

The full post, “Thank You for Playing! & Community Events”, is on the game’s Steam news feed, dated September 5, 2026, and links directly to the Discord and both event channels.
