Dungeon Settlers Lycan Race Guide: Night Strengths and Weapons
The Lycan race in Dungeon Settlers — Beastfolk physical damage dealers, stronger at night, built for Agility, Perception, bows, and spears.
FAQ
Are Lycans in the Early Access build?
What are Lycans good at?
Why do my new Lycans have no facial decals?
Lycans are the first playable race beyond the launch default roster in Dungeon Settlers — wolf-inspired Beastfolk with a day/night twist. They debuted in the third supporters playtest (July 2026) and shipped with Early Access; patch v0.4.12 adjusting their profile data confirms they’re live.
What are Lycans?
Per CanOpener’s official description when the race was announced:
“Inspired primarily by wolves, Lycans will be weaker during the daytime but stronger at night.”
They are the first of the Beastfolk category — the studio said it expects to introduce more Beastfolk races in the future. The EA roadmap names the Dwarf race as the next addition, arriving with Update 5.
What are Lycans good at?
The official description emphasizes damage output over durability:
“They are intended to excel as physical damage dealers, with strong Agility and Perception stats, making them particularly effective with weapons such as bows and spears.”
That points to a damage-dealer profile: high Agility and Perception, paired with the bow — or the spear, the weapon type announced in the same pre-launch wave. Spears, the studio said, would open up new combat styles and party compositions to experiment with.
How does the day/night cycle matter?
Per the official description, Lycans are weaker during the daytime and stronger at night. How that bonus scales, when exactly the day/night switch happens, and whether it applies inside dungeons is not yet documented in official material — this page will be updated once verified in-game.
Anything visual to know?
Patch v0.4.12 adjusted Lycan profile data so in-game facial decals match their portraits: previously recruited Lycans are unaffected, while newly recruited Lycans appear without facial decals.
Where do Lycans fit in a party?
With a four-recruit expedition cap and permanent death, a Lycan archer competes for the damage-dealer slot in your party composition — and their equipment needs tie into the departure-screen readiness check. For how ranged combat actually plays, see Combat Basics.
