Dungeon Settlers' first post-launch patch v0.4.12 — fewer starting Cog Wheels on Devastation, buffed Abyss Chests, and the title wishlist button removed.
FAQ
What is Dungeon Settlers update v0.4.12?
Are previously recruited Lycans affected by the decal change?
Where are the official v0.4.12 patch notes?
CanOpener shipped v0.4.12, the first patch after Dungeon Settlers entered Early Access, posting the notes on Steam roughly eight hours after the game went live (September 4, 2026, 15:41 UTC). It mixes two reward-side adjustments with a pile of small fixes.
What changed in v0.4.12?
Per the official post, the patch adjusts and fixes:
- Starting Cog Wheels on Devastation difficulty reduced from 2 to 1
- Abyss Chest rewards rebalanced — reward quantities increased
- The wishlist button was removed from the title menu — the same button the launch-day roadmap’s known-issues list flagged
- Lycan profile data adjusted so in-game facial decals match their portraits; previously recruited Lycans are unaffected, while newly recruited Lycans will appear without facial decals
- Several incorrect text entries corrected
- TEST key bindings no longer appear in Key Settings
What bugs were fixed?
The fix list from the official notes:
- An animation conflict when a unit was affected by both Near Death and Severely Exhausted — Near Death now takes priority, and the sleep animation resumes correctly after the unit recovers
- Chinese and Japanese unit names were not displayed correctly when creating an Expedition Team
- The Create Campaign window can no longer be closed by pressing Esc or clicking outside the window
- The Recreation construction category displayed the Defense tooltip
- An incorrect tooltip on the data-collection consent toggle in the startup notice
- The recruitment refresh confirmation pop-up no longer remains open when using the key assigned to Confirm Notice
Does this change how a new run plays?
Only on one difficulty: Devastation starts with one fewer Cog Wheel (2 → 1). Everywhere else the patch is fixes, UI cleanup, and reward inflation — Abyss Chests now drop more, which affects every descent into the Abyss.
