FAQ

How many bosses are in Dungeon Settlers Early Access?
Three named fights are documented in the v0.4.19 build: the Red Monster Rat (a Veil of Silence elite tied to the Crawling Doom quest chain), the Giant Stone Golem at Veil of Silence floor 5, and the Chain Knight Sentinel at Festering Burrow floor 5. The Infinite Abyss mode also spawns mini-boss encounters at its floor 10 and 20 portals.
What is the statue on floor 5?
Each region's floor-5 boss rests on the ground as a dormant statue until you choose to activate it, per first-week community documentation. The statue dates back to the pre-launch demo, where players found the same dormant boss and a lore letter near the guild merchant hinting the fight was 'not implemented yet' — in the Early Access build the boss is there and the fight is real.
Do bosses respawn?
Not documented yet. Community guides warn that heavily depleted floors have significantly lower boss and elite spawn rates, so rotate the floors you expedition rather than farming one corridor into exhaustion.

The boss roster at Early Access is small but sharply tiered: an early elite skill check, one region-capping boss per dungeon region, and an endless mode that remixes both. This page maps every named fight in the v0.4.19 build and how the encounters are structured — with a dedicated guide page per boss.

Both playable regions also field named elites that hit far above trash mobs — see the region-by-region table below.

How do boss fights work?

First-week community documentation describes a shared two-phase rhythm:

  1. Aggression phase — the boss deals heavy, telegraphed damage. This is when you defend, reposition, and spend survival cooldowns.
  2. Recovery phase — the boss goes stationary and exposed. This is your damage window.

Winning fights is mostly about spotting the transition and pressing the advantage instead of panic-healing through the aggression phase. That rhythm sits on top of the real-time-with-pause combat system — pause the moment a wind-up animation starts, not after the hit lands.

Difficulty scales boss HP and damage — community documentation puts the scaling at up to roughly 1.5× on Devastation Management, the top of the five difficulty tiers.

What is the floor-5 statue?

Each region’s floor 5 is its boss floor, and the boss rests as a dormant statue until activated — the Giant Stone Golem appears as a stone colossus lying in its chamber. Community guides treat floor 5 as a preparation checkpoint: finish optional gathering first, restore the party, then decide whether the boss is your objective before you wake it.

The statue has history: in the pre-launch demo, players reached the same dormant boss and could not activate it — a lore letter found near the guild merchant named the first boss for the Veil of Silence, and players eventually confirmed the fight simply wasn’t implemented in the demo build. In Early Access, the fight is real.

Which elites guard each region?

RegionEliteDocumented behavior
Veil of SilenceShadow StalkerFast mover that targets the party member with the lowest Willpower; its charge stuns on impact
Veil of SilenceGloom WeaverStationary caster that summons adds unless interrupted — focus it the moment it channels
Festering BurrowBurrow KingHeavily armored, resists physical damage — magic (Fire or Water) works, bows don’t
Festering BurrowFungal TerrorMulti-room fight with AoE nature damage and a stacking debuff; kiting is essential

How do you prepare for a boss run?

The community-documented checklist, consistent across all three named fights:

  • Gear tier: at least Bone or Carapace equipment — cloth fails boss damage checks (the crafting chain is covered in Crafting & Gear)
  • Consumables: ointments and aid kits for bleed, food that fits your party’s racial diets, repair stock
  • Roles: a dedicated shield guard, burst damage for recovery phases, and healing or ample healing items — see the party comp tier list
  • Floor health: avoid heavily depleted floors; boss and elite spawn rates drop significantly on stripped corridors (how depletion works)
  • The clock: community guides advise against pushing boss fights in the 20:00–06:00 window — reduced vision and more aggressive boss AI
  • A blessing: praying with lesser mana stones before a named fight is standard community prep (how leveling and prayers work)

What do bosses drop?

Community documentation is consistent on the shape if not the exact tables: rare crafting materials, higher-tier weapons, and large gold bounties. The Infinite Abyss’s own boss portals currently drop placeholder loot — that mode’s rewards are expected to arrive with Update 4, whose roadmap entry includes a trophy building for Abyss rewards.
