Dungeon Settlers EA's Two Dungeon Regions: Safe Floors & Depletion

What's playable at Dungeon Settlers EA launch — the two dungeon regions, depletion, safe-floor staging, and the overworld-to-dungeon resource loop.

The Dungeon Settlers Early Access build ships two fully playable dungeon regions, each completable from beginning to end — that’s the confirmed day-one scope, straight from the Early Access announcement. Around them sits the system that makes those regions matter: depletion, staging, and the resource split between surface and underground.

What’s playable at Early Access launch?

  • Two dungeon regions, end-to-end
  • The overworld settlement — housing, food, crafting facilities, research
  • The full core loop between them: build above, expedition below

Regions beyond the first two are planned across the Early Access window (see the EA roadmap).

How does depletion work?

Per hands-on reports of the pre-launch demo, each dungeon run depletes a segment of a floor’s offerings — resources you clear stay cleared, and you get limited passes at a given level before it stops paying out (the reports describe waiting for floors to reset; exact recovery behavior is unconfirmed pre-launch). The practical consequence: rotating where you expedition beats hammering one floor into exhaustion.

Demo reports also describe what rooms can hold while undepleted: resource nodes like berry bushes and trees, old campgrounds, and enemies guarding them.

What are safe floors?

Between descent pushes, demo reports describe safe floors as staging areas — places to draw on settlement storage, trade items between party members, and read the readiness panel that flags missing gear before you go deeper. Community-run resources document a region-unlock progression system on top of this; exact unlock rules will be confirmed against the Early Access build at launch.

Why is the dungeon the only place for advanced materials?

The split reported in hands-on demos: the overworld provides basics (simple wood and rock), while food, treasure, and advanced crafting materials come from the dungeon. That’s the engine of the whole loop — the surface keeps settlers alive, the underground is why you risk them.
