FAQ

How many floors does the Veil of Silence have?
The documented pattern puts the boss checkpoint at floor 5 — the expedition map in official press-kit screenshots also shows locked, yet-to-be-unlocked sectors on the region map. Exact unlock rules for those sectors are pending confirmation against the live build.
What does the Silence effect do in the Veil of Silence?
Silence is the region's official environmental effect, listed as pervading the region in CanOpener's press kit. The press description frames the region as 'a forest where dreadful trees rise like walls, and an eerie quiet hangs over everything' — the region-wide listing is official; the mechanical impact beyond the name is still being verified against the live build.
What level should my party be for the Giant Stone Golem?
Community guidance puts a level 3-4 party against it — the same level shown in the official screenshot of the fight. It's a positioning fight against telegraphed zones rather than a raw stat check; the dedicated guide covers the patterns.
Which elites guard the Veil of Silence?
Two documented named elites beyond the early-floor Red Monster Rat: the Shadow Stalker, a fast mover that targets the party member with the lowest Willpower and stuns on charge impact, and the Gloom Weaver, a stationary caster that summons adds unless interrupted.
Is the Veil of Silence worth rerunning after you clear it?
Yes — it's the game's farming workhorse. Community runs report research books, food, and Raw Hide all flow from Region 1 reruns, and rerunning it beats full Region 2 clears for Raw Hide time-efficiency. Rotate the floors you clear: depleted floors pay out less, and boss and elite spawn rates drop on stripped corridors.

The first region Dungeon Settlers sends you into is also the one you’ll keep coming back to. The Veil of Silence is the EA build’s Region 1: a walled forest that teaches the expedition loop, hosts the game’s first named fights — and quietly becomes the research-and-materials farm the whole settlement depends on.

What is the Veil of Silence?

CanOpener’s press kit names it directly: “a forest where dreadful trees rise like walls, and an eerie quiet hangs over everything” — with Silence listed as the environmental effect pervading the region. In practice that means a forest-themed floor set: the documented room pool includes berry bushes, trees, old campgrounds, and the enemies guarding them.

The expedition planning screen in the same press kit shows the region map with locked, yet-to-be-unlocked sectors alongside the expedition roster — the region has more planned than the floors you meet at launch (region system overview).

How is the region structured?

The documented pattern puts each region’s boss checkpoint at floor 5 — the floors on the way down:

FloorsWhat’s there
Early floorsTrash mobs, gathering rooms, and the Red Monster Rat elite — the Main7 story beat of the Crawling Doom chain
Mid floorsNamed elites start appearing: Shadow Stalker, Gloom Weaver
Floor 5The Giant Stone Golem, resting as a dormant statue until you choose to wake it

Between descent pushes, safe floors act as staging areas — draw on settlement storage, trade items between party members, and check the readiness panel that flags missing gear before you go deeper.

Which elites guard Region 1?

Two named elites hit far above the trash mobs:

  • Shadow Stalker — a fast mover that targets whichever party member has the lowest Willpower; its charge stuns on impact. Watch your backline’s Willpower, not just HP
  • Gloom Weaver — a stationary caster that summons adds unless interrupted. Focus it the moment it channels; every unanswered summon is a fight that gets wider

Both are warm-ups for the elite skill check the region actually wants from you: the Red Monster Rat’s damage check is the reason community prep puts you in Bone or Carapace gear before cloth (crafting chain).

How do you beat floor 5’s Giant Stone Golem?

The Golem is Region 1’s capstone: a positioning fight against telegraphed zones, community-documented at roughly 18,000 HP and calibrated for a level 3-4 party. The statue mechanic matters as much as the fight — floor 5 is a preparation checkpoint, so finish optional gathering first, restore the party, and only then wake the boss.

The full pattern breakdown lives in the Giant Stone Golem guide; the general boss prep checklist covers the run-up.

Why keep rerunning the Veil after the Golem is down?

Because Region 1 is where the economy’s inputs live:

  • Research books — the Research Station’s currency is hauled out of the Veil specifically (research guide)
  • Food and treasure — the official split puts both dungeon-only
  • Raw Hide — community runs report rerunning the Veil beats full Festering Burrow clears for hide-per-hour

The throttle is depletion: rotate which floors you clear between pushes, and let stripped corridors recover.

When should you move on to Region 2?

The community-documented graduation checklist: Golem down, Bone or Carapace tier on your frontliners, region-1 recipes unlocked, and a roster that can survive the Burrow’s Gloth fights (Festering Burrow guide). Region 2 also gates the stone-dungeon unlock that solves bulk Stone farming (materials guide).
